sensing belonging
coaching and consultation for the early years
Parents & Caregivers
Using a collaborative approach, sensing belonging partners with parents and caregivers of children birth to age 8 to build capacity for attuned interactions and responsive relationships based on a child's unique relational needs. We work together toward tracking nervous system cues in the child and adult, using somatic touch techniques, new approaches to transitions, encountering a regulated state in relation to the child, and thinking through strategies for challenging moments. Sensing belonging pulls from attachment theory, Somatic Experiencing®, neurobiology, and DIR Floortime® to support adult-child relationships.
Early Learning Professionals
Educators are an essential part of the community surrounding a child and serve as vital attachment figures. Through consultation and professional development, sensing belonging offers learning experiences for professionals at all levels - from educators to leadership. Consultation includes support for considering a child's sensory experience, nervous system patterns, and attachment needs. Professional development topics include responsive interactions & relationship building, nervous system regulation, developmental trauma, social emotional learning, developmentally appropriate practice, play, nature-based learning, reflective practice and more.
